Sales tax revenues reflected weaker November sales in Clarendon when Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock delivered January allocations to local cities last week.
Clarendon saw a 7.97 decrease for the month with revenues of $36,382.64 compared to $38,535.48 in January 2025.
Howardwick was also down 8.15 percent at $1,664.63 for the month, but Hedley posted a gain of 21.57 percent with an allocation of $1,063.12 compared to $874.43 this time last year.
Donley County Assistance District 1, collecting sales tax in the City of Howardwick for law enforcement, was up 8.13 percent at $1,225.05, and Donley County Assistance District 2, collecting sales tax in the unincorporated areas of the county for law enforcement purposes and in its first fiscal year of collections, brought in $5,453.88.
Boosted by AI datacenter construction, the City of Claude saw its allocation increase 79.75 percent this month with revenues of $38,295.84 compared to $21,304.92. Armstrong County’s revenues were up an astonishing 1,495.04 percent bringing in $148,264.82 compared to $9,295.36 last January.
Memphis was up 16.98 percent at $31,981.11, and Childress was up 8.03 percent at $120,078.48.
Across the state, Hancock delivered $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for January, 4.9 percent more than a year ago.
These allocations are based on sales made in November by businesses that report tax monthly.
