Plans for the centennial celebration of Route 66 will include a stop in Donley County when the fifth Annual Texas Route 66 Motor Tour takes place October 1–3, 2026.
The Old Route 66 Association of Texas has announced the event will kick off October 1 in Shamrock with a celebration at the iconic Tower Station in Shamrock and continue on Friday and Saturday, October 2 and 3, guiding registered participants across the Texas stretch of Historic Route 66.
The October 2 leg of the journey will start in Texola and roll through iconic stops including Shamrock, McLean, Jericho, and Amarillo. October 3 will see the tour continue from Amarillo to Vega, Adrian, and Glenrio. Each location will offer its own slice of Route 66 history, culture, and charm.
This curated driving experience highlights iconic landmarks, small towns, museums, and local businesses—bringing together classic cars, travelers, and Route 66 fans from across the country.
