August brings annual public notices to the pages of your local newspaper as local governments prepare to set their budgets and tax rates for the coming fiscal year.
Clarendon CISD has given notice two weeks ago that it will hold a hearing on the school’s proposed budget and tax rate on August 25 at 6 p.m. in the Administration & Technology Building.
Hedley CISD advertised last week that its budget and tax hearing will be on August 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the superintendent’s office.
The City of Clarendon also gave notice last week and says it will hold a budget hearing on September 3 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall and then hold a tax rate hearing on September 10 at 5 p.m. before that night’s regular meeting.
The City of Hedley will hold a meeting at 7:00 pm on September 10, 2026, at Hedley City Hall to consider adopting a proposed tax rate for tax year 2026. The proposed tax rate is $0.377496 per $100 of value.
The Donley County Appraisal District Board will hold its budget hearing on September 8, 2026, at 7 p.m. at the appraisal office.
Public notices run often in the Enterprise and the Big E Classifieds for Donley County entities and other communities in the Greenbelt region. Informed citizens will want to check those out regularly and see what is happening in in the region.
Public notices inform citizens about their governments and are important to holding elected officials accountable. Citizens are urged to read the Enterprise each week to keep up with these important public notices.
