The Clarendon Broncos completed their second game of the season against a strong Sanford-Fritch team last Friday and were defeated 18-28. 

The game was closer than the score revealed as the Broncos’ effort in the first half gave them a 6-6 tie on the scoreboard. However, the Eagles were able to keep the Broncos out of the endzone in the final two quarters of play.

Even though the Broncos struggled in the second half, they were able to rack up 331 total yards in the game. Quarterback Kreed Robinson threw for 134 yards that included two touchdowns and one interception. 

Robinson hit four different receivers in the game and connected with Tyler Smith and Braylon Rice for the two Bronco touchdowns. Smith was three for 45 yards, and Rice was one of 16. Markael Davis caught two Robinson passes for 38 yards, and Braxton Gribble was three for five.

The Broncos ground game was led by Davis who rushed for 124 yards on 15 carries, and Robinson scrambled from his QB position to rack up 56 yards on seven carries. Smith carried once earning 12 yards, and Gribble went six yards on one carry. The SF defensive line was able to use their size and strength to stop the Broncos’ running game.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Broncos played hard and were able to grab 55 solo tackles and 35 assists. Davis led the way with 13 solo tackles and six assists while Smith finished with 10 solo tackles, five assists, and one interception. Parker Haynes hustled on the field and had nine solos and five assists, and Josh Farley ended the game with six solos and five assists. 

Brice Wagner was responsible for five tackles and one assist, and Dakotah Jameson was able to grab three solo tackles with two assists. Brance Bell and Caleb Herbert each had two solos with Bell helping four times, while Herbert got in on three more tackles. Gribble finished the game with one solo tackle.

The Broncos will continue their pre-district season this Friday at Plains beginning at 7 p.m.
