James Dewey “Jim” Mincey

James Dewey “Jim” Mincey, 61, died Friday, September 1, 2006 in Clarendon.

Services with Fire Department and Law Enforcement Honors, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 in the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Tom Garmon, Pastor, Rev. Darrell Burton, Pastor of the Martin Baptist Church, Rev. Delmar Wiggs, Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department Chaplain, and Rev. Danny Housh, son in law, officiating. Burial was in Citizens Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.

Mr. Mincey was born on October 24, 1944 in Lubbock, Texas, to Arnold and Sarah Criswell Mincey. He had been a resident of Brownfield before moving to Clarendon 27 years ago. He married Jo Dee Vaughn on February 14, 1981, at Lubbock. He retired as a lineman for GTE, and later owned his own handyman business. He was a reserve deputy with the Donley County Sheriff’s Department, he had been a lake patrol at Greenbelt Lake, was a member of the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department, had formerly been an EMT volunteer with the Clarendon EMS, was an Explorer Scout, and had served as a crossing guard for ten years for the Clarendon Elementary School. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was the Mission Committee President.

Donley County Sheriff Butch Blackburn expressed his deepest regrets at Mr. Mincey’s passing and said he was thankful for Mr. Mincey’s years of service to the people of this community.

Mr. Mincey was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Dee Mincey of Clarendon; six daughters, Cathie Flud of Lubbock, Jo Ann Cline of Pampa, Elleen Hood and Georgi Housh both of Amarillo, Samantha Hinton and Edie Mincey both of Clarendon; four sons, Dewey Mincey of Amarillo, John Klattenhoff of Midland, Wayne Buckner and James Buckner both or Orr City; one brother, Arnold Mincey, Jr., of Lubbock; 26 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Buster Gray, Jerry Morris, Gerald Lane, Mike Lacy, Pat Douglass, and Bob Windisch.

Honorary bearers were the Donley County Sheriff’s Department and Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department.

The family requests that memorials be to a favorite charity or First United Methodist Church.
