
Billy Joe “Bill” Selfridge
Billy Joe “Bill” Selfridge, 74, died Saturday, December 10, 2011, in Howardwick.
Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011, in the First Baptist Church of Howardwick with Rev. Dave Stout, Pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mr. Selfridge was born April 2, 1937 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma and had lived in Amarillo before moving to Howardwick 14 years ago. He had worked as a law enforcement officer most of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Selfridge of Howardwick; one son, Bret Wayne Selfridge of Amarillo; one brother, Howard Dale Selfridge of Allen; 3 sisters, Mildred Churchman of Seattle, Washington, Chersie Davis of Allen, Juanita Williams of Enid, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

Lowell Randles Stuckman
Lowell Randles Stuckman, 87, died Saturday, November 26, 2011.
Private Memorial Services were held at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church, Glen Arbor, MI.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2011, in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Rev. Lloyd Stice, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Clarendon, officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Cremation and Arrangements are by Life Story Funeral Home of Traverse City, Michigan. Local arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Lowell Randles Stuckman of Traverse City, formerly of Garrett, Indiana, Pontiac, Michigan, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Wichita Falls, Texas and Savannah, Georgia died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Bortz Health Care of Traverse City.
He married Annie Ree Porter on September 1, 1946, in Clarendon.
In 1952 he started working as a Chevrolet Senior Cost Estimator and in 1978 he retired from General Motors as a Director of Product Programs.
Lowell was a member of Pi Tau Sigma of Purdue University, Land of Lakes Flying Club, Classic Car Club of America, Auburn Cord Duesenberg Classic Car Club, Four Hills Country Club of Albuquerque, NM, and an active member of the Methodist Church in Pontiac, MI, Albuquerque, NM and Savannah, GA.
Lowell earned his pilot’s license at 16 years old and continued flying for decades. He restored and exhibited many of his classic cars, enjoyed boating, water skiing, golfing, photography, and coin collecting.
Lowell was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Porter Stuckman, parents, Dorance and Ava Stuckman and sisters, Ilene Case and Phyllis Traster.
Lowell is survived by his daughters Catherine (Mark) Martin of Glen Arbor, MI, Cynthia (Steve) Hitt of Weatherford, TX and Amy (Alan) Blevins of Savannah, GA., grandchildren: Clint, Mary, Marshall, Boyd, Brooke, Carmen and Taylor and great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Mason, Porter, Rowan and Harlow.

Fire claims Howardwick home

Clarendon and Howardwick volunteer firemen work in sub-freezing temperatures to battle a fire at the residence of Patrick Green in the 300 block of Angel Street in Howardwick Monday afternoon. Clarendon Fire Marshall Jeremey Powell said the cause of the blaze was electrical, and sources tell the Enterprise that the house was not occupied at the time the fire broke out
Lowell Heckman
Lowell Heckman, 89, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in Pampa.
Services were held at 10a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Marilynn Frye and Rachel Potter, officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery with military honors courtesy U. S. Army, Fort Hood, Texas. Arrangements were under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Heckman was born May 3, 1922, in Antelope Flat, on the southeastern edge of the Palo Duro Canyon, to George and Annie Mae Heckman. His family moved to Clarendon in 1929 where Lowell lived during his school years. Lowell worked for the J. A. Ranch in Clarendon and Palo Duro, as did his grandfather and father, and his family was befriended by Charles Goodnight during their time on this ranch.
He was a decorated veteran of WWII for his service with the U. S. Army 104th Timberwolf Division, which participated in the Battle of the Bulge campaign. After the service, Lowell married the love of his life, Cora Lee Muse, and graduated from Texas Tech University. During his career in the petroleum industry, he and Cora Lee moved to Pampa in 1968 where they raised their four children.
Lowell was an example of a life well lived. His family and friends will forever be inspired by his devotion to family, tireless work ethic, immeasurable patience, easy manner and a wonderful sense of humor.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ray Heckman and Cecil Heckman; one sister: Leola Gilmore; and their oldest son: Richard Heckman.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Cora Lee Heckman of the home; two daughters: Cheri Rutledge and husband Bob of Grapevine, and Teresa Heckman of Pampa; a son: Rodney Heckman and wife Cathy of Sachse; four grandsons: Josh Shelton and wife Alexis of Pampa, Kylar Rutledge and wife April of Saginaw, Hal Rutledge and wife Kelli of North Richland Hills, and Riley Heckman of Sachse; four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
The family suggests memorials be made to Disabled American Veterans National Headquarters, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076.
Frank William Corder
Frank William Corder, Sr., 84, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011, in Clarendon.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Patrick Robertson officiating. Services were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Frank was born May 31, 1927, to Charles and Sarah Corder in Amarillo. He married the former Vivian Marie Wiggins on February 18, 1953, in Paris, TX. Frank worked as a Warehouseman and Shipping Clerk at Vinson Supply for 25 years before retiring in 1977 to the farm in Donley County. He served in the United States Army – Armed Forces tour in Germany. While in Amarillo, he coached and refereed sports for Kids, Inc. and he loved all sports. Frank loved all his family and felt God had truly blessed his, and he had no regrets with choices he made in his life, and Frank said, “Without my family, I’m nothing”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Vivian Marie Corder Hatfield in 2001 and her husband, Stephen Edward Hatfield in 2000; his beloved great-grandfather, William Henry Corder; one brother; and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Corder; his son, Frank William Corder, JR; his daughter, Kathy Lynn Corder Swanson and husband Orville James; four grandsons, William Henry Corder, James Edward Swanson, Richard Eugene Corder, and David Seth Corder; his great-granddaughter, Heather Renee Swanson; his great-grandson, James Ray Swanson; two brothers, David Roy Corder and Troy “Fat” Lee Corder; two sisters, Ruth Corder Price and Sarah Jane Corder Geary; many cousins, nieces and nephews, and let’s not forget his faithful dog, Blue.

Mahdeene DeBord
Mahdeene DeBord, 86, died Friday, December 2, 2011, in Amarillo.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011, in the Hedley Church of Christ with Bright Newhouse, Minister, officiating. Interment followed at Rowe Cemetery in Hedley. Services were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Bessie Mahdeene DeBord was born October 16, 1925, in Shamrock to I.M. and Allie Barrington. She was the second of three children. She moved to Amarillo at the age of three months. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1944, and worked at several banks in Amarillo until marrying Connie DeBord on December 8, 1951. She moved to Hedley in 1955 where she became a homemaker and devoted wife for almost sixty years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bob Barrington; and a sister, Ira Woods.
She is survived by her husband, Connie; two daughters, Connie Lee Wilson and husband Troy, and Deborah Flanary; four grandchildren, Cory and wife Shelley, Brad and wife Julie, Katherine, and Zachary; and four great grandchildren, Taylor, Joseph, Connor, and Collin.
The family suggests memorials be made to Rowe Cemetery Association.

Lady Broncos outplay the Lady Dragons
Nothing by hustle and intensity was on the minds of the Lady Broncos at home Tuesday night when they took on and easily defeated Paducah 65-33. Junior guard Jentry Shadle hit six three-pointers to lead the ladies on the scoreboard with 21.
The Lady Broncos came out on fire and took a commanding lead in the first quarter of play. They held a 26-point lead at the break and never looked back. Shadle, Dronzek, and McKayla Cartwright all finished in double figures. Coach Molly Weatherred was pleased with thehustle of her players. “I thought we did a good job of controlling the pace of the game and we shot the ball really well.”
Scoring: Shadle 21, Cartwright 11, Dronzek 10, Anna Ceniceros 6, Gaines 4, Ryann Starnes 4, Berry 3, Deborah Howard 2, Camra Smith 2, and Lydia Howard 2.
Over the weekend the Lady Broncos participated in the River Road Tournament and took second place behind Gruver. They played Randall JV in the first round and defeated them 53-24. It was all Clarendon as the ladies set the pace of the game early on and held the Lady Raiders to single digits at thebreak.
Scoring: Shadle 16, Cartwright 12, Deborah Howard 8, Ryann Starnes 7, Anna Ceniceros 5, Marqueda Gaines 3, and Lydia Howard 2.
The ladies played Pampa in the next round and defeated them 46-34.
Scoring: Shadle 17, Starnes 9, Cartwright 7, Trevela Dronzek 4, D. Howard 4, Gaines 2, Ceniceros 2, and L. Howard 1.
The win over Pampa put them in the championship game against Gruver. They played hard, but were defeated 33-56.
Scoring: Cartwright 10, Starnes 9, D. Howard 6, Dronzek 5, Gaines 2, and Shadle 1.
Angel Tree full of empty stockings
The annual Angel Tree for Panhandle Community Services is up and full of stockings to be taken. Participants my stop by our office at 416 Kearney to take a name from the tree. We also are accepting donations for those that would rather not do the shopping.
Office hours are Mon-Wed-Fri 8 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm. All gifts must be returned to our office by Dec 19th.
