Mrs. Jenifer Pigg, Emeri Robinson, Darcy Grahn, Jade Benson, Natalie Monds, (front row) Graci Kidd, Aubrey Jaramillo, Kaylin Hicks, and Natalie Monds attended cheer camp June 27–30 in Plainview. The camp was held at Wayland Baptist University where the girls won the spirit stick twice by being the most spirited group for the day, four blue ribbons and one red ribbon during various cheer competitions and a top certificate for crowd involvement. The Clarendon Broncos varsity team completed in the TBC (Texas Basketball Championships) Summer State Tournament this weekend. The team was the Summer State Tournament winner in the D-3 Division and went undefeated in the tournament. The team has completed in several tournaments this summer in the Texas Panhandle and in Kansas only with the generous support of the community and their parents. They have been coached by Lance Wood and Jesse Lockhart. Sixteen Donley County 4-H members, four volunteers, and Donley County Extension Agent Leonard Haynes traveled to the annual 4-H Fishin’ Fun Camp and Tournament held at Mesa Vista Ranch on June 13 and 14. The fishermen were proud to bring the traveling trophy back to Donley County after losing it last year to Wheeler County. It seemed to have found a permanent home here for several years in a row until last year. The 2016-17 Bronco Cheerleaders spent three days at cheer camp at Southern Methodist University in Dallas last week. The girls learned cheers, chants, and dances in order to lead the fans in cheering for the Broncos and Lady Broncos at the coming year’s sporting events. Three Bronco cheerleaders received All-American Nominations. These were: Senior Captain Brooke Smith, Senior Co-Captain Jensen Hatley, and Senior Co-Captain MaRae Hall. CHS mascot Sandrea Smith also received an award for “Most Spirited Mascot.” The girls are looking forward to cheering for the Broncos in the new school year. The concrete in the existing gutter was badly deteriorated and had caused local citizens to fall recently.
