A pair of tractor-trailer rigs were wrecked last Tuesday, June 18, near Giles after a 2013 Dodge Avenger driven by Jerry Bailey of Pensacola, Florida, drove impatiently and aggressively when leaving the Donley County Safety Rest Area on the south side of US 287. According to DPS Trooper Chad Simpson’s report, Bailey illegally crossed the solid white stripe of the accelerating lane and struck the right wheel of one tractor-trailer, breaking its tire rod and causing it to crash into the side of the other tractor-trailer. 4H Roundup Several members of the Donley 4-H Club qualified for the 2013 Texas 4-H Roundup held in College Station on the Texas A&M campus held June 10-14. Qualifiers on the Horse Quiz Bowl team include Alysse Simpson, Sam Spillers, Shelby Musick and Kelsey McAnear. Members of the Horse Judging Team are Alysse Simpson, Sam Spillers and Kelsey McAnear and they placed 22nd overall. State qualifiers on the 5th Place Beef Quiz Bowl Team include Blaine Ellis, Tres Hommel, Austin Adams and Jake Owens. The Livestock Judging Team members who qualified are Kati Adams, Austin Adams and John Pigg and they placed 19th overall. All teams competed well at the contest thanks to Coaches Robin and Guy Ellis, Jenifer Pigg, Lon Adams and Leonard Haynes. John Pigg spent most of his time serving on the State 4-H Council which he was elected president of by District 1. While there, they were able to take a tour of the school of veterinary medicine and join in many activities with fellow 4-H members from all over the state
