City of Howardwick Volunteer Fire Department Junior Firefighter Kutter Okeefe took fourth place in the Jericho Gap 10K last Sunday. About 70 people registered for the race as part of this year’s Route 66 Festival.

Work continues and a steady clip on the downtown revitalization project in the 200 block of South Kearney. The new sidewalk is finished in front of Donley County State Bank and the Masonic Lodge, and workers were setting forms on the southwest side of the block this week.

Monroe Newhouse jumps into the pool at the Clarendon Aquatic Center opening day Memorial Day weekend as the facility starts its 2025 season. The center has seen good attendance during warm weather days and is now serving an expanded menu of concessions. It opens daily at 1 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
